Transport Canada Suspends Ice Pilots NWT’s Air Carrier License

Looks like Ice Pilots NWT isn’t going to be flying as high as it used to, given that news broke out that Transport Canada has cancelled their air carrier license.

According to The Canadian Press, Transport Canada says it has suspended the operating licence for Yellowknife’s Buffalo Airways, an airline in Yellowknife that was profiled on the History series Ice Pilots, over what it calls the carrier’s poor safety record. Their license has been suspended since Tuesday morning.

Ice Pilots NWT premiered in 2009, airing on various networks including National Geographic Channel and The Weather Network.

The series concluded this past December after six seasons. They printed this on their official Facebook page: After six long years, the decision to make this the last season of Ice Pilots was mutual between the McBryans, the network, and the production company. It’s bittersweet to end the show, but we think you’ll agree that our last episodes are some of our best ones ever!
