triple j Will Be Broadcasting A Show On Beats 1 This Aus Music Month

triple j is celebrating all things Australian music this month as they do every November but this year they’re doing something slightly different bringing homegrown music to the world on Apple’s Beats 1 radio.

Beats 1, which launched in June this year as part of Apple Music, broadcasts worldwide through Apple iTunes and features shows from the likes of Elton John, Drake and St. Vincent.

triple j have announced they will be joining that lineup every Saturday this month broadcasting from 11am Los Angeles time which is 6am Sunday morning AEDST, so you’ll have to set your clocks early.

No word yet on who will be hosting the show but it would be brilliantly confusing if it was mornings host Zan Rowe given that one of Beats 1‘s key radio hosts in Zane Lowe.

Australian music has already been getting a huge wrap on the online international station. So far they have already given spins to heavyweights like Tame Impala and Courtney Barnett as well as newcomers like Slum Sociable. triple j‘s program will no doubt add a whole new host of artists to that list.

You can watch a very short teaser video below. Check back for more info closer to Saturday.

UPDATE 04/11/15: Triple j has announced which of its hosts will be taking over Beats 1 in the coming weeks. This Saturday, 7th November, will see Zan Rowe and Dom Alessio spin some new Aussie music, with a premier of new music from Brisbane’s Emma Louise.

The following week’s show, hosted by Matt Okine and Alex Dyson, will focus solely on Courtney Barnett’s massive year, while the week after will see Lewi McKirdy and Linda Marigliano put the focus on Australia’s rising female musos.

Veronica Milsom and Lewis Hobba will finish up the November takeover with an exclusive world premiere from Chet Faker and his buddy Marcus Marr.

The triple j Beats 1 shows will air each Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon US time (that’s 6am Saturday and 1am Monday AEDT).
