George R.R. Martin Makes His Zombie Debut In New Z Nation Video

In George R.R. Martin’s novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire and its television adaptation, Game of Thrones, one of the worst fates that can befall a person is to die and rise again as a “wight,” an undead zombie in the service of the otherworldly white walkers. But Martin appears to have had a great time becoming a zombie for this week’s episode of Z Nation.

Martin is guest starring on Z Nation as a zombified version of himself who has been chained to a desk for an eternal book signing. Some Game of Thrones fans probably want Martin to actually be chained to a desk in reality…but not like this.

The zombie formerly known as George R.R. Martin is being held by a deranged individual calling himself The Collector. In this preview clip from tomorrow night’s Z Nation, he explains to Murphy (Keith Allan) how he acquired Martin and he does so while throwing shade on The Walking Dead with an unflattering description of a Daryl Dixon-like character.

And while undead zombie Martin still knows how to make his signature, he also seems like he’d be up for eating his book!

It’s not clearly seen in the clip, but the book that zombie Martin signs is “A Promise of Spring,” an overt reference to Martin’s planned 7th novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, “A Dream of Spring.” It’s strange that the name of the book was changed considering that the clip calls out Game of Thrones and Martin by name.

This is actually Martin’s second gruesome demise on Syfy this year. He also had a bloody cameo in Syfy’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! last summer.

Martin’s zombie debut on Z Nation will be shown this Friday, October 30 on Syfy.
