Fox Unleashes Extended Trailer For The X-Files Miniseries

Fox, you’ve been holding out on us! It’s almost as if it was some kind of conspiracy!

Last night, the Fox network debuted a two-part trailer for the upcoming six episode revival miniseries of The X-Files. And now, Fox has released an extended cut of that trailer as a single video.

The bulk of the new footage comes at the beginning of the video, as we hear Joel McHale’s voice describe a conspiracy theory about a plan to overrun the U.S. with alien super weapons that have been a closely guarded secret for decades. McHale’s character is named Tad O’Malley, a conservative talk show host who is clearly made from the Glenn Beck mold. But he may have a sympathetic ear from Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), a man who has actually lived through those conspiracies!

And where Mulder goes, Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) can’t be far behind. Series creator already tried to make The X-Files without Mulder during the ninth season. Nobody seems eager to make that mistake again. Fortunately, the new trailer seems to have recaptured some of the spirit of the original show while addressing the modern day paranoia surrounding drones and 24/7 surveillance.

The X-Files will kick off its six-episode revival on Sunday, January 24, 2016.
