Screen Music Awards To Return To Melbourne In November

Returning for the first time sine 2012, the Screen Music Awards will be landing in Melbourne this November 12th, held at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

A celebration of the union between sound and screen, the awards have a long history of acknowledging the best and brightest film and screen composers our fair nation has to offer.

“We look forward to providing the opportunity for our members to not only recognise their peers but renew acquaintances and spark future creative endeavours,” said Brett Cottle, CEO of APRA/AMCOS, who along with the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers) are staging the event together.

Showcasing the outstanding achievements of Australia’s screen composers, the awards are the only Australian event dedicated celebrating these unsung heroes of film and TV. With awards to be given out across 12 categories including compositions for documentaries, short films, mini-series, advertising and more the event will be hosted for the second time by actor and writer Rob Carlton and feature music direction by Emmy Award winning composer Ashley Irwin.

Irwin will be leading a live orchestra on the night, performing a selection of nominated compositions. Having recently collaborated with film legend Clint Eastwood on the soundtrack for the film Jersey Boys, this will be the third time Ashley has served as Music Director for the event.

With nominees set to be announced in early October, you can find out more at the APRA/AMCOS orAGSC websites.
