King Of Horror Wes Craven Has Died

Wes Craven, the mastermind behind such horror touchstones as the Nightmare On Elm Street and Scream franchises, has died.

The iconic writer-director lost his battle with brain cancer, passing away at the age of 76.

Craven re-invented the standard in teen horror, time and again, over the course of his decade-spanning career, terrifying generations with seminal dream-stalker Freddy Krueger in the Elm Street franchise (which has clocked up 8 films to date)…

…and again twenty years later by introducing us to Ghost Face “Do you like scary movies?” in the definitive slasher gem, Scream

Most recently, Craven adapted Scream for the small screen, executive-producing season 1 of the MTV series of the same name.

Regarded as an auteur of the horror canon, some of the other movies in the director’s monster filmography include the original The Hills Have Eyes flick, The People Under the Stairs and Swamp Thing.

RIP Wes Craven. Your amazing legacy of horror will haunt our dreams for years to come.
