The Walking Dead Reveals Three New Characters For Season 6

The Walking Dead Season 5 ended with a bang, as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) executed a man who had come to kill him in front of the terrified residents of Alexandria. And while things in the safe zone haven’t proven to be very “safe,” there are a few new faces coming to the show this fall.

Via Entertainment Weekly, The Walking Dead showrunner and executive producer, Scott M. Gimple announced three new additions to the cast: Corey Hawkins, Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever.

Hawkins had been spotted on the set of The Walking Dead earlier this summer. And as correctly guessed by many fans, Hawkins will play Heath, a runner who first appeared in the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman.

Wever is also stepping into a previously established role from the comics as Dr. Denise Cloyd. However, Embry is playing a new character called Carter, who will be a composite of other Walking Dead characters who haven’t made it on the TV show.

“Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven’t hit yet or weren’t able to hit in other characters,” explained Gimple. “He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy.”

Hawkins is currently starring in the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, while Wever is best known for her Emmy-winning turn on Nurse Jackie. Embry has previously starred in Grace and Frankie.

The Walking Dead Season 6 will premiere on Sunday, October 11 with a 90 minute episode.
