Album Stream: Hot Chip ‘Why Make Sense?’ Arrives a Week Early

The Beta Band’s more dance-driven brother Hot Chip are set to return with their new album, Why Make Sense?, on May 18th through Domino Records, but it’s streaming a full week early on a site specially set up by the band.

The widely acclaimed follow-up to 2012’s In Our Heads was concocted in Oxfordshire and London, with producer Mark Ralph (Franz Ferdinand). The goal was a burst of minimalistic energy.

“The record is about the excitement of choosing what you might wear, choosing which records you will play,” frontman Alexis Taylor explains. “But at the same time, it’s asking whether we as a band are getting old, whether people still care. The answer is meant to lie in the music.”

Post-punk, disco jimmies, alien acid dub, or just a fucking good time, the new Hot Chip is definitely getting top placement on the spin list this week. Pick it up right here.
