Cancelled: Kanye a No-Show For SXSW Kimmel Appearance

Imagine all the “mean tweets” he’d have had to choose from.

Sneering hobbit king Kanye West was billed to appear on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Friday from SXSW, but was a no-show. His segment was reportedly set to include the show’s signature “mean tweets” segment, as well as a sketch poking fun at his infamous interruptions.

When announcing the cancellation, Kimmel’s audience broke into loud applause. The host joked, “If you do not like Kanye West, make sure to tune in Friday night to not see him.”

West’s rep said the whole thing was a crapshoot from the start: “We were never confirmed . . . We took extraordinary steps and worked directly with the show to make it happen. Logistics were insurmountable.”

Logistics? Hmm. Maybe, just maybe, Kanye started to doubt the wisdom of sitting on a couch with a doughboy host, talking about whatever stupid shit he talks about, while his chief competition just dropped a new album that not only kicked the shit out of everything released so far this year, but is currently blasting from speakers far and wide.

Kendrick Lamar’s new record runs silly circles around every new sound we’ve heard from Kanye’s upcoming album. Can you really blame the cat for scrapping appearances? He’s undoubtedly got some serious work to do.
