Lenny Kravitz Cancels Australian Tour

Lenny Kravitz has announced the cancellation of his upcoming Australian tour, including his headline appearance at Bluesfest 2015. He has not confirmed any replacement dates.

“Unfortunately, due to contractual scheduling conflicts beyond my control I will not be able to come to Australia to perform. I have been looking forward to coming to play for my fans and I’m deeply sorry that my concerts had to be cancelled,” said Kravitz in a statement.

“My ability to come play for you all is a huge concern to me and while I am unable to confirm another time right now, I’m looking forward to rescheduling to perform in Sydney and Melbourne as soon as I can. Love and Respect…Lenny.”

The blues rocker was scheduled to headline the opening night of Bluesfest 2015 and was to be joined on stage by his full 16-piece band. At the time of that announcement, Bluesfest Festival Director Peter Noble said they had been negotiating for years to secure the musician for the festival.

“It is sad for all of us here at Bluesfest, when anyone cancels, as we know it must be for Lenny’s fans right now,” said Noble in a statement today. “Please be assured we are now attempting to find someone else to come and play.”

“Although we are going to miss Lenny when we take off on Thursday 2nd of April, I am sure it’s going to be one of our greatest Bluesfests ever,” he added.

Bluesfest have advised that while a replacement act is being sought after, ticket holders who wish to refund their Thursday single day ticket are able to do so from today until Thursday 19th of March 2015 by calling the Bluesfest office on 02 66858310.

While in the country, Lenny Kravitz was also due to play two additional headline dates in Sydney and Melbourne, backed by his 10th studio album, Strut.

The promoters have announced that customers who purchased tickets to Kravitz’s solo tour dates via credit card or a Visa or MasterCard debit card will be automatically refunded and do not need to take any action.

Those who purchased tickets with cash or EFTPOS will need to post their tickets back to Ticketek at the address below, with a small note outlining your request, for a full cheque refund.

Kravitz now joins Brisbane pop rock outfit Sheppard as acts who have pulled out of the Byron Bay festival in favour of their international schedule.
