Watch: Fan-Shot N.W.A. Biopic Trailer Is Exciting As Hell

Ready for the goosebumps? A sneaky Ice Cube fan in Australia uploaded a bootleg recording of the trailer for the upcoming N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, which the rapper then generously showed during a concert in Sydney. And from what we’re seeing, this flick could be a mean one.

The somewhat-grainy clip offers a snapshot of what fans can expect from the biopic of the rise and fall of the most notoriously famous rap crew in history, N.W.A. A montage of a DJ cutting records, menacing LAPD officers and a low-rider bouncing through a crowd in South Central Los Angeles can be seen as key players are introduced and the group’s iconic music blares throughout.

Drive-By Shooting at N.W.A. Biopic

We see Dre in prison, Eazy being his typically irascible self and the excellent Paul Giamatti, who plays Jerry Heller, N.W.A.’s manager and the co-founder of Ruthless Records, lays out the foothold: “Let me tell you what I see here: A lot of raw talent, swagger, bravado. People are scared of you guys, they think you’re dangerous, but you have a unique voice — the world needs to hear it.”

The film’s core figures, Eazy-E (Jason Mitchell), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins) and Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr., the rapper’s actual son), are followed through the band’s rise to fame.

Straight Outta Compton will hit theaters in August 2015.
