A 34-minute documentary created by production company Scared Goose interviewed 550 musicians, actors and other assorted celebrities, in order to ask them the simple question: “John Lennon or Paul McCartney?”

The likes of Robert De Niro, Arctic Monkeys, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Benedict Cumberbatch make up the bizarre selection of famous folk, with some managing to fire off their answer with wild abandon, while others pause for a moment of reflection before naming their personal choice. Of course, others are less willing to pick favourites, while some even confess to not liking the output of either Beatle – singer/songwriter Ben Howard, for instance, instead opts for Jimi Hendrix, who wasn’t one of the options but Sacred Goose had 549 other celebrities to get through, so they weren’t about to spend too long lingering on Ben bloody Howard.

The documentary was 10 years in the making, with Sacred Goose spending a decade compiling a list of answers to the question. The results seem to be split down the middle, with pop stars tending to prefer the more joyous, uplifting material produced by McCartney, while actors tended to favour Lennon’s music.
