Fake Xbox One support accounts are harassing gamers messaging them following Monday’s Xbox Live DDoS attacks, along with offering out free Xbox One consoles, games and accessories.
Twitter account @XboxSupportPST has been responding to Xbox Live subscribers following the online attack, forcing Microsoft’s official Xbox support account, @XboxSupport, to message Xbox owners informing them of the fake profile.

After the @XboxSupportPST had succinctly tweeted one of its followers with the message “F*** You,” the official Xbox support account replied: “That is not an official account, I’m afraid. We’ll look into it but best to ignore them and come straight to us.” Writing to another user asking for help with a problem with their Xbox One, the individual in control of the fake account wrote: “light your pubes on fire and kill your family.” The fake account has also been posting pornographic images on its profile.
The fake account has gained a lot of traction due to it posting multiple fraudulent “competitions” in which it claims that it will give free Xbox gifts to those who follow and retweet its posts. These fake competitions are posted under the guise of “apologies” for the Xbox Live servers’ downtime.
Another fake account, @XboxSupportCST, seemingly ran by the individual behind @XboxSupportPST, is also posting fake competitions along with messaging Xbox owners, tweeting: “we are very disappointed and feel as if we need to give back for the down time.” It has also retweeted racist posts onto its timeline.
So if you see a competition on Twitter seemingly orchestrated by Microsoft, be sure that it’s not being posted from either of these accounts, or from unofficial accounts like them.
