Daft Punk Plan ‘Alive’ Box Set in Time For Christmas

Where the hell did Daft Punk go? The mysterious & dynamic French EDM duo all but vanished after their smash 2013 album Random Access Memories (read our review), leaving most of the hype to fall on Mr. Happy himself, their “Get Lucky” collaborator Pharrell Williams. They’re still around, however, and are proving it with a planned elaborate vinyl box set featuring their standout live albums Alive 1997 and Alive 2007.

The box set is said to include some fan-desirable goods, including 180g white LPs, a 52-page hardcover photo book and a replica VIP concert pass. Both albums will also be available on vinyl individually.

Alive 1997, recorded at the Que Club in Birmingham and released in 2001, features a single, 45-minute live mix of the duos tracks, recorded the same year as their beloved debut album Homework was released.

Alive 2007, recorded at Bercy in Paris, compiles songs from Daft Punk’s first three albums, including favorites from Discovery and Human After All such as “One More Time,” “Robot Rock,” “Technologic” and “Harder Better Faster Stronger.” This will be the first time that Alive 2007 has been printed on vinyl, to the maniacal delight of fans.
