It Will Take Three Years to Rebuild Manchester United, says Louis van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has stated that it will take “three years” to rebuild the club, after their incredibly poor start to the Premier League season.

Man U’s troubles are well-documented, with them suffering under the tutelage of David Moyes following the departure of managerial veteran Sir Alex Ferguson, followed by their run of poor displays with Dutch coach Louis van Gaal at the helm.

United previously lost 1-0 to bitter derby rivals Manchester City, meaning that they have now bagged just 13 points out of 10 games, with them sitting right in the centre of the table at 10th place.

Speaking of United’s disastrous season, the 63-year-old said: “It’s not good enough, but on the other hand, we are in a process, as I have said from the beginning.

“The process shall take more than one year; it shall take three years. I feel for the fans in the first place and the board because they have a great belief in me, my staff and my players.”

Though David Moyes was met with a huge fan backlash following his tenure with United, those who defended the former Everton manager claimed that he would need more time with the club if he was to improve upon the squad. Unfortunately for him, United promptly dropped him at the end of the season before bringing in Van Gaal, who has faced similar problems working with the underperforming squad.

If Van Gaal is to be believed then United fans will be expected to wait a while longer until they begin showing signs of their former quality. Will the wait prove to be too long, though?
