Gross: Willie Nelson’s Braids Sell For $37,000

Ew? Willie Nelson‘s signature braids were auctioned off for a whopping $37,000 at an auction in Phoenix on Sunday. Oddly enough, the braids were part of roughly 2,000 items sold off that belonged to the late country singer Waylon Jennings.

No, Jennings didn’t have a secret Willie fetish – Nelson cut off his braids in a 1983 public show of support for Jennings in his efforts in sobriety, before his red locks went grey. At a party thrown by Johnny Cash the same year, he presented them to Jennings. Because when friends want to show support for one another, they cut off their hair and give it to each other. Doesn’t everybody do that?

Other items auctioned off included Buddy Holly’s motorcycle, as well as the contract between Jennings, Nelson, Johnny Cash and Kris Kristofferson when they formed the supergroup the Highwaymen.
