Jon Hamm to Star in Black Mirror Christmas Special

Jon Hamm is set to star in a three-part Christmas special of the critically-acclaimed Channel 4 series Black Mirror.

The Mad Men and Million Dollar Arm actor will join co-stars Rafe Spall (One Day, I Give It A Year) and Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones, The Crimson Field) in the as-yet-unnamed seasonal special, which again focusses upon the increased implementation of technology in our society, and the perils of our reliance upon it. Little is known of the upcoming episodes yet, but Channel 4 say that the episodes will be an interwoven set of stories about “Yuletide techno-paranoia”.

Speaking of the show, Hamm said: I am beyond thrilled to be a part of the Black Mirror Christmas Special. I have been a massive fan of the show since its inception.

“Its dark humour and intelligent observation of our society and values hooked me deeply as a viewer and I’m honoured that Charlie [Brooker, the show’s writer] and the rest of the creative team have asked me to participate in wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.”

Brooker said that he is “revoltingly happy that Jon, Rafe and Oona are participating in the horrible pageant that is Black Mirror.” Filming on the new episodes will begin this week.

The first two anthology series of the show were unsettling glimpses into the tech-centric world that we live in, filled with biting, dark satire. The Christmas special will be directed by Carl Tibbets and is set to air on Channel 4 in the UK in December.
