The Kooks 2015 Australian Tour Announced

The Kooks are returning to Australia as part of a four-stop national tour presented by Music Feeds for their largest set of Aussie headline shows to date.

After making their last Australian visit as part of the sold out 2013 Groovin’ The Moo festival tour, The Kooks will kick off a run of 2015 shows in mid-January at Perth’s Belvoir Amphitheatre before hitting up the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Brisbane’s Riverstage and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.

Welsh indie-rock group Catfish & The Bottlemen are also making the trip Down Under to accompany the Brighton four-piece, along with Sydney’s The Griswolds, in support of The Kooks’ fourth studio album, Listen.

Frontman Luke Pritchard says the September release was about exploring a new identity rather than mimicking the sound of the band’s hugely successful three previous albums. The boys even teamed up with hip hop producer Inflo to help uncover their more soulful side.

“To me this album is about pure expression,” he said. “Even the way we made the album felt fresh.

“Rather than us just being a band in a room, playing our guitars with the vocals over the top, which is what we’d always done before, we were really listening to what was going on around us, picking up ideas. The whole thing was much more natural.

Tickets go on sale from Friday, October 3 at 9am local time.
