Sharon Osbourne Slams U2 on Twitter: “You Give Your Music Away Because No One Wants to Buy it”

Sharon Osbourne has launched a scathing attack on U2 over Twitter, mocking the free iTunes release of their new album Songs Of Innocence.

Sharon, TV personality and wife of former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, tweeted: “U2 you are business moguls not musicians anymore. No wonder you have to give your mediocre music away for free cause no one wants to buy it.”

She continued: “Guys nothing is for free, how much you making? PS, btw you are just a bunch of middle age political groupies….

“Whose political ass are we going to pull you out of today? Or are you front row at another tragic fashion show?…”

But her rant didn’t stop there, as she then took to slamming Interscope Records’ co-founder and Apple’s music service itself, writing: “Jimmy Iovine, iTunes, U2, you’re a bunch of megalomaniacs. FUCK YOU!”

She also branded the business move as an “invasion of her private space,” asking: “what about up-and-coming artists who need to sell their music?”

Songs Of Innocence was immediately placed into the iTunes libraries of 500 million users following the reveal of the iPhone 6, a move which was widely criticised. A number of articles went online following the debut of the LP which informed users of how to delete it.
