Drake Gets Most Nominations For The BET Hip-Hop Awards

Canadian rapper Drake is leading the pack in terms of the BET Hip-Hop Awards – the nominations were announced yesterday and Drake received the most.

In a statement to The Associated Press, BET said Thursday that Drake received the most nominations with eight for the ninth annual awards show. Jay Z, Pharrell and Future got six nominations each, and Nicki Minaj, Rich Homie Quan and YG received five nods.

Drake is nominated for best lyricist and hip-hop video, as well as best live performer and album of the year.

Drake, a Toronto native, has conquered the worlds of TV and music, with his 2013 project Nothing Was The Same becoming the 7th best-selling album in the US last year. He also earned four BET Hip-Hop Awards last year, including the People’s Champ Award. This past July the rapper revealed to Billboard magazine that his next album will be called Views From The 6. however he hasn’t started recording it yet.

The BET Hip-Hop Awards will be recorded at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center on September 20th and will air on October 14th. The event will be hosted by “Uncle Snoop” (aka Snoop Lion, aks Snoop Dogg… we don’t know anymore…)
