N.W.A. Biopic Cast Involved in Drive-By Shooting

With filming finally in motion on the highly-anticipated and equally controversial N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, the cast and crew came a little too close to the violence glorified in the legendary rap crew’s music this week when a drive-by shooting occurred near the set.

According to TMZ, the crew was filming on location at the Compton Courthouse in Los Angeles, when gunshots were fired from a car nearby. Neighborhood residents near the set were reportedly throwing gang signs at them, resulting in the gunfire. Because contorting your fingers like you have cerebral palsy is super hardcore serious in the hood, yo. In 2014, people are still trying to act like we’re living in some gangsta rap video from 1991. Let’s make a movie about it!

None of the cast was hurt, but one civilian was reportedly injured. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. Filming will resume on the project this week.

“I’m totally involved, I’m engulfed in it,” Ice Cube told MTV News about the film recently. “This is our legacy, you can’t play with this, there’s no cutting corners. I’m fully engulfed in that movie, very anal about it. It gotta be right.”
