Corona Capital Lineup: Jack White, Massive Attack, Kings of Leon Lead Bill

While most Americans tend to avoid Mexico City for its rampant drug cartel murder sprees, kidnappings in broad daylight, grenade attacks and general lawlessness, certain stupid brave and bold individuals see adventure opportunity. Hence Corona Capital, an annual music festival that descends on the city this year for an October 11th – 12th run. If you’re scoffing at the notion of heading to one of the most brutally violent areas in the world for a music festival, well… the lineup’s not exactly going to change your mind. But it’s a damn fine one.

6 Reasons Bonnaroo is the Best Festival in America

Jack White and Kings of Leon are set as headliners, alongside Beck, Massive Attack, Damon Albarn, Belle & Sebastian, MGMT, HAIM, Lykke Li, St. Vincent and CHVRCHES. Additional acts include standard festival personnel Jenny Lewis, SBTRKT, Sam Smith, Sky Ferrieira, The Horrors, tUnE-yArDs, Kasabian, Little Dragon, Real Estate, Twin Shadow, Holy Ghost!, The Kooks, Metronomy, The Julie Ruin, Hercules & Love Affair, Deafheaven, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Jagwar Ma, Cults, and Kodaline, among others.

Tickets and other info can be found via the festival’s website. But seriously, are you honestly considering going to f*cking Mexico City for a music festival? Parents considering sending their kid to another country for some Summer fun may find second thoughts in this Reuters article from March, which opens with the line “so many teenage girls turned up dead in a vacant field on the outskirts of Mexico City that people nicknamed it the “women’s dumping ground.”

Paaaaaarty.
