Watch: Australian Priest ‘Father Bob’ Covers Kanye’s ‘Jesus Walks’

Australian Catholic priest and national radio (and occasional TV) personality Father Bob has dropped a ridiculous cover of a Kanye West classic.

In the name of a good cause, Father Bob revisits Kanye’s 2004 hit ‘Jesus Walks’ in the form of a hilarious cover.

The passionate pensioner may lack the youth and fire of Kanye’s original, however the Triple J Sunday Night Safran co-host has released a collection of songs as part of a crowd funded project, Father Bob Sings for a Million, hoping to raise money for the Father Bob Maguire Foundation’s work with the homeless and disadvantaged.

The foundation provides “food assistance, housing and education” to needy Aussies. To find out more about the project visit the campaign’s official Pozible page.

For those familiar with Father Bob, imaging the Melbourne priest agreeably rapping on video seems highly unlikely.

“I did exactly what they told me to do,” Father Bob told the ABC. “‘Do you mind if the words include shit, drugs – do you mind?’ – I said ‘look, give me the words for God’s sake. If this is what we have to do, this is what we have to do’,” he said.

“The issue of homelessness is shapeless and colourless,” he said of the creative project.

“It’s just an issue, and they know they should be interested in it but there’s no kind of colour in it to attract their attention more than anything else, like the weather or the football.”
