Smashing Pumpkins Announce Two New Albums: ‘Monuments To An Elegy’ and ‘Day For Night’

The ever-changing centerpiece of Billy Corgan’s creative outlet, Smashing Pumpkins have announced that they’ve signed a fresh new contract with BMG, with plans to release two new albums in 2015. The band reportedly entered the studio today to begin recording Monuments To An Elegy and Day For Night, with a single expected before the end of the year.

Interview: Billy Corgan talks Pumpkins reissues, new music

From the official post:

For those interested in sound, think: ‘guitars, guitars, guitars, and more guitars;’ but more so on the epic side of things than say, grossly metallic. Recording sessions begin today, as plenty of songs have been written and ready to go. Manning the boards will be producer Howard Willing, with whom I first had the pleasure of working with during the ‘Adore’ sessions. We expect a single out by year’s end.

Photos, song titles, lyrics and, undoubtedly, a whole lotta Instagrams from each recording session will appear on the newly launched website The Panopticon. No word yet on whether the rumors of Jimmy Chamberlin rejoining the band are true, or whether Corgan has scrapped his entire band once again in favor of new players. We’ll keep you posted on details as they develop.
