Sasquatch Festival Cancels Second Weekend

It looks as if the Sasquatch! Music Festival has bitten off more than it can chew: the second weekend of the event has been cancelled, the fest announced in a press release.

Sasquatch had planned to expand to two weekends in 2014, sporting an entirely different lineup over the 4th of July weekend – a sharp departure from the mirrored lineups of other two-weekend fests.

The Sasquatch! community has spoken. They continue to support the traditional Memorial Day Weekend event with great enthusiasm,” Jeff Trisler, president of Live Nation Seattle, said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the second weekend was not embraced. We felt it was better to cancel the new event now and give everyone time to make alternative plans for the Fourth of July weekend. Going forward, Sasquatch! Music Festival will be at the Gorge Amphitheatre on the weekend the fans want: Memorial Day Weekend only.”

Those looking to catch Soundgarden, Kraftwerk and New Order at The Gorge, among others, will now have to make other plans for Independence Day. It is unknown at press time whether any second-weekend bands will fold into the remaining lineup – we’ll keep you posted.

The Sasquatch! festival now will be held solely from May 23-25 at the Gorge Amphitheatre. Tickets are still available
