Xbox One Titanfall Bundle is $450 at Walmart, is a Price Drop in Sight? [UPDATE: Best Buy, Too!]

Update: Best Buy also has the bundle available for $450.

Original Story: The Xbox One is already falling behind the PS4 in sales. A lot of that has to do with its price point. Moreover, Microsoft needs to do something about it, and it might already be.

Walmart is currently selling the Xbox One Titanfall Bundle for $450. You can choose to either have it shipped to your home for free, or to a nearby store to pick-up.

The Xbox One Titanfall Bundle includes the following:

  • 500GB Microsoft Xbox One Console w/ Kinect
  • Titanfall Game (Download)
  • 1-Month of Xbox Live

If you’d prefer to use Amazon for your purchase, it is known for price matching and a customer service agent should be able to accommodate your request.

Microsoft hasn’t announced the sales of Titanfall or the Xbox One since Titanfall came out a couple of weeks ago. This has led many, including myself, to believe that the numbers aren’t hitting projection. Additionally, Walmart’s price drop here shows that it likely has an abundance of stock it wants to move off shelves. If this is true, Microsoft will need to make a big move before things spiral out of control, and more so than anything else that means a permanent price drop of the system.

Unfortunately for Microsoft, the manufacturing process and part costs for the Xbox One don’t leave a very large profit margin. In order to lower the price to the $399 that it really needs to be at to produce huge numbers moving beyond Titanfall, it’ll need to remove the Kinect or find some other way to dramatically reduce cost without affecting its performance for gaming. Hopefully that comes sooner rather than later, because if there’s one thing we’ve learned from other consoles (i.e. Wii U) it’s that it’s incredibly difficult to dig a console out of a sales slump.
