Titanfall Sales Forecast to Break 6 Million Units By End of 2014

Titanfall is the hot new product of the gaming industry right now. It isn’t surprising that it’s expected to perform admirably on the charts.

Estimates by Robert W. Baird & Co. analyst Colin Sebastian place Titanfall at 2.4 million units shipped by the end of the fiscal year, and 6 million by the end of December 2014.

For EA, Titanfall is a huge opportunity it doesn’t want to squander. It’s the company’s first new IP to start the new generation of consoles, and has captured the attention of gamers with its progressive game mechanics. Its ability to permeate the market defines whether or not it’ll be a flagship IP heading forward.

March 2014 has several other blockbusters, though. Blizzard’s Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls is just around the corner, and Dark Souls 2 launched to even more positive critical reception. Also, inFamous: Second Son pre-orders have bested the impressive numbers The Last of Us achieved last year. It could outsell Titanfall despite being available on only one platform.

But ultimately how other games fare isn’t what matters, it’s what the world of Titanfall looks like one, two, or even six months down the road. It was hailed as a Call of Duty killer. We won’t know until later this year whether or not it is one.
