A Metal Gear Solid V Limited Edition PS4 Could Be on its Way

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has hinted that a limited edition Metal Gear Solid V PS4 may be on its way.

Taking to Twitter, the developer discussed both the PS3 and PSP limited edition consoles that were made to celebrate new games in the Metal Gear Solid series. He then asked fans: “After all, I wonder if you want a limited edition?”

He continued: “[SONY] × [PS4] × [MGS GZ] collaboration initiative is in progress. More information at a later date.”

Is this confirmation that Kojima has been in talks with Sony to release a limited edition PS4 to accompany the release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes? Considering that the release of Ground Zeroes, which is the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, is set to release in a few months time, it would perhaps seem more likely that Sony would want to release an MGS-themed system around the release date of the full game.

However, as many will likely be picking up a new console at the tail-end of this year, Sony may also want to entice more Metal Gear fans to the PS4, and therefore ensure that the vast majority of copies of The Phantom Pain are purchased on its console rather than the Xbox One. Given Hideo Kojima’s very vocal support of the PS4, we doubt that will be an issue.
