For the past year Sony has done an outstanding job of demonstrating how much it values its fanbase. SCE President Shuhei Yoshida in particular has been going out of his way to respond to fan questions and concerns on a weekly basis. His latest answered question offers insight into his fine taste in RPGs.
When asked on Twitter what his five favorite RPGs are, Yoshida replied:
Dragon Quest 3, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy Tactics, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls
His picks are pretty safe. Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy Tactics are my top two of all-time, and I’m not alone. Meanwhile, the other three have earned their fair share of acclaim.
Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls are the only modern RPGs on the list. Some say that the genre has declined during the past decade, but the Souls series is a beacon of light that brings hope to the genre.
