RingTV: The Long History of the Boxer-Rapper Wars

It may not necessarily seem like it on the surface, but boxing and rap really do go hand-in-hand.

Or at least, glove-in-mic-clutching-hand.

Both require combatants to train incessantly, sharpening skills through years of training.

Both require an ascent through the competitive ranks, letting would-be challengers and fading hangers-on know where they truly stack up.

And both require egos the size of solar systems to properly play the “I’m the baddest man there is, was or ever likely will be” card.

So, it probably should come as no surprise how often the orbits of boxers and rappers cross paths…or how often those galactic egos get bruised when lyrics start raining like Mayweather overhand rights.

in honor of Grammy-nominated rapper Fabolous’ recent musical take-down of already on-the-ropes boxer Adrien Broner, our pal Ryan Songalia over at RingTV compiled a brief history of some recent boxing-rap crossovers that left some practitioners of the sweet science sporting a new kind of wound.

Ring found a rappers like Ja Rule and Eminem who decided it was time to try to drop some lyrical bombs on a guy that messes up people’s faces for a living.  As you’d expect, those challenges seldom go unanswered.

Go head over to RingTV to check out the full list.
