Watch Chvrches Give Janelle Monae’s ‘Tightrope’ The Synth Treatment

We’ve been in love with Janelle Monáe for quite some time, and on the heels of the best professional year of the rising star’s life, another of our favorite new artists has covered her breakthrough track.

Billboard’s “Women in Music” event last December featured Monáe receiving a “Rising Star” award, and Glasgow dream-pop outfit CHVRCHES, who are featured on this year’s Coachella lineup, honored the recognition by performing a special cover of her 2010 hit single “Tightrope”. The stunning performance features synth-heavy atmosphere framing a delicate and slightly off-pitch vocal that’s truly endearing.
