Pearl Jam Set For Mammoth Three-Hour Big Day Out Sets

Big Day Out headliners Pearl Jam appear set for a bunch of three-hour festival closing sets early next year.

The festival timetable requires just confirmation from 2014’s participating acts, but promoter AJ Maddah all but confirmed some big Pearl Jam appearances on Friday.

When asked by a fan on Twitter about potential timetable clashes between Steve Angello and Pearl Jam, Maddah responded saying “Once you do a 3 hour set at a festival you are bound to [clash]”.

Pearl Jam are heading Down Under exclusively for Big Day Out, meaning you won’t be able to catch the boys along with some of the traditional sideshows. But don’t be alarmed if you can’t make it- Eddie Vedder announced Friday a late, but well welcomed, set of extensive solo performances for Aussie audiences at the conclusion of the BDO national tour.

Vedder will play a mix of Pearl Jam classics and his own material from solo projects, including his work on the soundtrack of the 2007 film adaption Into The Wild.

Pearl Jam are sharing the BDO headline spot with Arcade Fire, and now The Hives, Beady Eye and Deftones, after Blur recently withdrew from the bill.

The band went home to Seattle last week and played a huge 37-song set, possibly a prelude to what Aussie fans can expect as part of BDO. Included in the set- Nothingman, Corduroy, Even Flow, Black, Better Man, Daughter, Alive, Given To Fly plus 2013 hits Mind Your Manners and Sirens.
