Xbox One Sells Over 2 Million Units Within Three Weeks

The Xbox One may have sold a staggering one million units in its first day on the market, but it was far from done.

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One sold over two million units worldwide during its first 18 days following release. These sales span all 13 markets that the Xbox One has been made available to.

Corporate vice president of strategy and marketing at Microsoft, Yusuf Mehdi, said the following after the milestone:

We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions* on Xbox Live to date

Microsoft made a bold move by including the Kinect, increasing the cost of the Xbox One by around $100 as a result, but so far it’s paid off.

The Xbox One wowed us with its technological capabilities (you can read our review here) and feature-set when it came out last month. Its software launch library was also a high note at launch.

Microsoft has good momentum going in 2014 where it will debut its console exclusive Titanfall early in the year.
