The Presets Announce Unique Tour, New Direction

Electronic duo The Presets announced a different type of tour on Monday, pairing up with the Australian Chamber Orchestra to rework some of time’s greatest pieces of music.

Described as a “genre-bending” audio-visual performance, the Timeline tour is “a kaleidoscopic journey through 42,000 years of music”, mixing the creations of Hildegard von Bingen, Gesualdo, Monteverdi, Vivaldi, Mozart, Schoenberg, Reich, Jelly Roll Morton, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd and Nirvana with the slightly more contemporary sound of The Presets.

The duo, made up of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes, studied together and received classical training at the Sydney Conservatoriom of Music and played a role in the creation of Timeline.

“While we have enjoyed recognition in the contemporary music sector, our influences and our musical background have always been very broad, and have informed the music we create to this day,” said The Presets. “We were honoured to be asked to be contribute to Timeline – it’s a privilege to select so many meaningful works for the piece, and to work with the ACO.”

Stick around- more details of the Timeline tour to follow.
