Watch: Trent Reznor FaceTimes Onstage With Dying Fan

Throughout most of his career, Trent Reznor has had a reputation for kicking the musical shit out of people with his band Nine Inch Nails. But at a show in Vegas over the weekend, Reznor managed to hit us even more deeply: right in the damned heart.

The rocker pulled out his phone during the show to facetime with a longtime fan and photojournalist (Andrew Youssef) who was diagnosed with stage-four colon cancer a little over a year ago and has been given just weeks to live. The die-hard Nine Inch Nails fan was was entering palliative care after experimental treatments had failed, and was unable to make the show. So Reznor brought the show to him, by panning his phone around the arena before telling him “Listen, I just wanted to tell you that I miss you man. I wish you were here”.

Chants of “Andrew,  Andrew,  Andrew” followed in the crowd, before an electrifying, poignant version of “In This Twilight” was played, in dedication to the AmateurChemist author and music lover.
