Microsoft Offers Update on Xbox One’s Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive

Microsoft Studios vice president Phil Spencer has opened up about two of the Xbox One’s promising upcoming games: Quantic Break and Sunset Overdrive.

Both Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive are still scheduled for a release in 2014, and Spencer had a chance to see the latest build for both. He shared the following about his experience with Quantum Break to Polygon:

We did a pretty deep dive [on Quantum Break] last week while we were in Europe, and I’m feeling really good about the creative. It may be before the end of the year when we talk more about what the story and the gameplay is… We have a pretty good piece that I’m trying to coerce people into putting out before the end of the year … showing the full Remedy vision, with Sam [Lake] giving a pretty good description of how the game works with some new gameplay footage. Maybe VGX would be a good place for that.

VGX is the new name for Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, and this year will arrive on December 7th. That’s not a long time to wait before seeing more from Quantum Break. Up to this point Remedy has been vague on details making the next reveal a big stepping stone toward release.

In terms of Sunset Overdrive, Spencer said the following:

We’re playing a full section of the game and feeling really good about the open world gameplay that they’ve put together. I like the investment around new IP at the launch of a new console.

The Xbox One already has a full launch lineup, with next year’s most stand-out game, Titanfall, arriving in just a few months. Along with Quantum Break and Sunset Overdrive, the Xbox One is in good shape for its first 12 months.
