Big Day Out Drops Second Lineup Announcement

A more modest second Big Day Out lineup announcement dropped on Tuesday, completing the festival’s 43-act bill.

Headlining the latest announcement are three acts from the cancelled Harvest Festival– Primus, The Drones and CSS- plus a diverse range of Australian-grown talent, including Kerser, Violent Soho, Jungle Giants, Bluejuice, All The Colours, Bliss N Eso and 360.

The 11 additions join Big Day Out exclusives Pearl Jam, plus Arcade Fire, Blur, Major Lazer, The Lumineers, Flume and Tame Impala. Check out the full festival lineup here.

The latest announcement comes a few days after promoter Ken West defended the festival’s future, saying parent company C3 Presents wouldn’t be turning Big Day Out into the latest international expansion of the Lollapalooza festival.

In other festival news, the final Stereosonic tickets from the Sydney leg have sold-out a couple of weeks before the David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Calvin Harris led tour kicks off.

Australia’s biggest dance music event prepared for an even bigger 2013, expanding the Sydney leg to two days and increasing overall capacity to 65,000.

With all tickets now gone, the festival is looking to crack down on some of the unscrupulous activity occurring on Ebay, Gumtree and the like.

The festival is releasing 50 extra tickets each day, for a limited time, via Ticketmaster in an attempt to combat scalpers and other frauds. The release begins Wednesday, November 20 and will last until the 29th.

“Tickets will be released at 9am (AEDT) each day,” said the festival in a statement. “This initiative has been launched in the hope of dispelling the continual concerns and enquiries about scalping and ticket authenticity on un-authorised third party sites from Stereosonic fans.”
