Gran Turismo 6 Media Blowout: Car and Track List, Trailers and More!

Sony is hosting a Gran Turismo 6 event at the Willow Springs International Raceway today—which we’ll post footage of shortly—as the company pulled the veil off its holiday season blockbuster.

First up, GT6‘s car and track list is official. 1197 cars are confirmed to be coming at launch with more arriving later as DLC. Of those, 124 are first time additions for the franchise. Unfortunately, it’s unclear how many of these will be premium vehicles, although we can safely assume it’ll be greater than Gran Turismo 5‘s list of around 200. The official car list can be seen here.

29 tracks will also be included. While many of these have existed in GT games of past, there are 7 new courses which include:

  • Gran Turismo Arena
  • Mount Panorama
  • Silverstone Circuit
  • Brands Hatch
  • Goodwood Hillclimb
  • WIllow Springs International Raceway
  • Matterhorn

Two new trailers have also found their way onto YouTube. While one shows over a minute of in-game footage and some of the hard work Polyphony Digital has put into transforming real cars into the virtual world, the other demonstrates the game’s impressive day cycle and astronomy effects. This might be a PS3 game, but it looks absolutely incredible.

Beyond the visual improvements, managing your garage, tuning vehicles, and online play have all undergone major improvement. The entire online lobby has been redesigned to be more functional and easy to use.

Not everything is positive, though. B-Spec Mode and Course Maker won’t make it into the game until after release. More details will be made available soon.
