Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees Include Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, The Replacements

Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Linda Ronstadt and The Replacements are among the nominees in the latest round of artists up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The annual list of nominees was announced Wednesday, with all the aforementioned artists arriving as first-time nominees. YES, Link Wray and The Zombies also received their first nominations. Returning nominees include Kiss, LL Cool J, N.W.A., Cat Stevens, Deep Purple, The Meters, The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Chic, in their eighth nomination.

In their first year of eligibility, Nirvana has been nominated in a highly publicized announcement. The band’s induction, if approved by the body of over 600 voters, would occur in tandem with the 20th anniversary of the death of frontman Kurt Cobain.
