Xbox One Pre-Orders Have Impressed Microsoft

Despite the negative reaction to the Xbox One, Microsoft say they have been impressed by the amount of pre-orders they have received for the next-gen console, as it has been revealed that they have now overtaken Xbox 360 sales.

In a statement released last night, Microsoft said:

“Xbox One, which will launch this fall, has already seen impressive pre-order sales as consumers have signed up to be the first to receive the new system.

“In fact, Xbox One pre-orders are trending ahead of Xbox 360 pre-orders during the same time period and have already sold out at most major US retailers.”

Microsoft appeared to have handed Sony’s PlayStation 4 the next-gen crown when they announced their console’s restrictive DRM policies and high price point at this year’s E3, but after making a huge u-turn with the system following the huge amount of negative feedback they received, it seems that they are now back in the race.

Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 is still the top-selling home console, with 140,000 units sold in the US in June. Nintendo’s 3DS is the best-selling console overall, having shifted 225,000 units in the same month.
