HBO has another round of a popular comedy on the way, giving fans a reason to keep the streaming service on their watchlist. The eight-episode series featuring Elijah Wood is preparing its return, with production complete and new episodes expected in the first half of next year.
I Love LA returns to HBO in a few months
Rachel Sennott’s I Love LA will return for Season 2 in early 2027, according to Jordan Firstman, who plays Charlie Cohen. Firstman recently confirmed that the team had finished filming, offering the clearest indication yet of when viewers can expect the comedy back. HBO has not announced a specific premiere date, but the update points to a wait of only a few months (via ScreenRant).
The series debuted in late 2025 with eight episodes and secured a second-season renewal while its first run was still underway. However, the follow-up’s schedule remained uncertain as the gap between seasons approached a year.
Sennott will return alongside Firstman, Odessa A’zion, True Whitaker and Josh Hutcherson. The new season will also bring several guest stars into the show, including Taron Egerton, Jamie Chung, Benjamin Norris, Dylan Arnold, Jessy Hodges and Milan Carter.
Elijah Wood’s involvement in Season 2 remains uncertain. The actor was featured in the first season’s fourth episode, Upstairses, playing an exaggerated version of himself, but nobody has confirmed whether he will return for the next batch of episodes.
Now that production has finished and the release window is coming into focus, fans are waiting for HBO to lock in the premiere date. The network has yet to share an exact launch day or disclose which other guest stars could turn up when the comedy makes its return.
Season 1 earned plenty of praise for its brisk storytelling, witty writing and biting pop-culture references. Fans also applauded its sharp take on Los Angeles’ influencer scene, with its over-the-top personalities and internet fame providing plenty of material for satire. Whether the second season can recapture that same spark remains an open question.
