Reacher’s Brutal Cliffhanger Leaves Jack in the Most Dangerous Situation, but Will He Die?

Jack Reacher may have finally met a situation he cannot punch his way out of. Season 4 Episode 6 ends with the former military investigator staring down the barrel of multiple guns, but the grim setup does not necessarily spell his death. In fact, the show has already given viewers several reasons to expect Reacher’s story to continue.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

Is Jack Reacher going to die after Season 4 Episode 6’s ending?

Things go sideways fast in Plum Out of Luck. Reacher and Tamara’s hunt for the flash drive takes another hit when Lila Hoth slips away during a shootout. That setback leads Reacher straight to Leo Ahlquist, whose legitimate-looking pesticide operation masks a much darker security business.

Ahlquist’s mercenaries manage to overpower both Reacher and Tamara, yet they are not ordered to kill them on the spot. Instead, the pair are loaded into a transport truck and hauled deep into the woods.

When the vehicle finally stops and its doors swing open, Reacher and Tamara are met by a group of armed men waiting outside, but the episode pulls the plug before revealing what happens next. Their fate is left hanging in the balance.

Reacher fans may have just watched the hero walk into a deadly trap, but there is little reason to start mourning Jack Reacher yet. The season still has two episodes left, which leaves plenty of time for him and Tamara to break free, turn the attack back on Ahlquist’s operation or uncover a curveball nobody saw coming.

More importantly, the franchise has already made plans for Reacher beyond this season. Alan Ritchson is returning as the character in the upcoming spinoff Neagley, and Reacher Season 5 is already moving forward. With Ritchson continuing to play the lead in both projects, permanently killing off the character now would make little sense.

For now, the episode wants audiences sitting on the edge of their seats. Reacher and Tamara entered the woods as prisoners with armed enemies surrounding them, and the story deliberately withholds the answer. The real question may not be whether Reacher dies, but how badly he can turn this ambush against the people who thought they had him cornered.
