Filmmaker Louis Leterrier, who previously helmed Fast X, revealed in a new interview that he hasn’t yet seen the Fast Forever script. This comes after Vin Diesel shared on social media that he couldn’t stop crying after reading the same screenplay.
Louis Leterrier has yet to read the Fast Forever script
Leterrier disclosed in a recent interview with Polygon that he hadn’t read the screenplay for Fast Forever yet and indicated that he couldn’t go into details about the project. “Well, I’d love to tell you the full truth, but I can’t,” the director noted. “There will be an ending, and it’s great. I was very, very lucky to be part of the franchise, and I love Vin, and I love Universal. They’re great to work with. So yeah. We’ll see, hopefully.”
Only a few days ago, Diesel took to Instagram to hype up the reported final movie in the Fast and Furious franchise, claiming that Mike Leslie’s screenplay was “the best script I have read in decades.” He added, “I am still crying.”
In the above-mentioned interview, Leterrier assured that he is still part of the project as its director and addressed the delay. Notably, his new movie, The Last House, debuts on Netflix on August 7, 2026, and stars Greta Lee and Wagner Moura.
Leterrier speculated that in a “parallel universe” he had begun working on Fast Forever right after Fast X. “It’s like a combination of Fast not going… we were supposed to go straight into it, then the strike, me finding this script [for The Last House],” The Incredible Hulk director explained.
Leterrier also revealed that he was currently “finishing another movie,” likely referring to the sci-fi action thriller Liminal, which stars Vanessa Kirby and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Leterrier humorously continued, “This franchise will have an ending. They built a ride! They have to finish it. Someone has to end it.”
Fast Forever debuts in US theaters on March 17, 2028.
