It’s never good for any truck to sail past a stop sign at a highway intersection. But that’s what happened on July 27 when a Dodge Ram towing a trailer failed to look both ways and crossed the highway at high speed before getting T-boned by a much larger semitruck. Dashcam video taken from another vehicle at the intersection shows the violent impact behind the three-car pileup.
Dodge Ram causes multi-vehicle accident in Iowa
At around 1:13 p.m., a Dodge Ram 5500 was responsible for a multi-vehicle wreck after ignoring a stop sign on Highway 3 in Iowa, according to a post by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office on its official Facebook page.
Video reveals that 20-year-old Diego Ernesto Guardado Tejada, the driver of the white pickup truck, deciding not to stop at the intersection. While hauling what appears to be an open trailer carrying three large orange spools of cables, it was speeding down W Ave when it collided with a semi-tractor and trailer that was moving down Highway 3. After both vehicles crashed, they then collided with a Chevy Impala that had stopped at the intersection.
Police report that Tejada, along with the driver of the semitruck, 29-year-old Singh Lakhwinder, and a passenger in the Dodge Ram, 21-year-old Evanny Garcia, were transported to the Community Memorial Hospital in Sumner. The post does not reveal the health and status of the driver in the Chevy Impala, 28-year-old Seth Reinking.
The accident was so destructive that all three vehicles involved “are a total loss.” Images of the aftermath show multiple tire tracks at the intersection, and the extent of the damage that the truck, semitruck, and car received.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from multiple agencies and companies, including Iowa State Patrol, Oran Fire Department, Oran First Responders, Mercy One Ambulance, and various towing services. The case remains under investigation.
