Driver Gets Signaled by Police to Pull Up, But Cops Did Something Unexpected

Typically, when the cops ask a driver to pull up to them, it’s for some kind of violation, maybe a speeding ticket, an expired tag, or a broken tail light. That’s what one owner of a Nissan Skyline might have thought when he got close to a police SUV patrolling the highway in Dallas, Texas, and the cop signaled with his hand out of the window for him to approach. Fortunately for the driver, the cop didn’t ask him to slow down and head to the side of the highway.

Man gets surprising praise from a cop on his car

In a video posted by “quaaad._” on Instagram on July 11, this surprisingly pleasant encounter with the cops happened when the driver was reportedly cruising on Interstate 35, a highway that goes through the heart of Texas.

That’s when he noticed that a police SUV was slowing down on his left. As he got closer to the car, the cop in the passenger seat waved for him to pull up further, though he was worried about what the police wanted from him. That’s when the officer put his arm out of the window and gave him a thumbs up.

“I love it, brother!” the cop shouted. “I love it!”

The driver told the officer that he appreciated the compliment and gave a thumbs up back. The owner had received praise from fans in other videos for his souped-up Nissan Skyline R33, an iconic Japanese sports car built in the mid-1990s. He labels it as a “RHD JDM,” or a Right-Handed Drive variant of a Japanese Domestic Market car. But he didn’t expect that a cop would go out of his way to give his admiration.

“That was so random and that was cool!” the driver said.

That’s when he noticed the police car pull up next to him again, with the cop pulling out his phone to record. Not wanting to disappoint the officer, he showed off and performed a quick turbo flutter while they were in a short tunnel. “A cop told me to do it!” he shouted. “What the f***?! That’s so crazy.”

After the cop gave a short farewell and sped off, the driver gave his own praise back. “Hey man, you know… The force needs more people like that,” he commented. “Like, that’s a great example of being part of the car community right there.”
