S.W.A.T. Exiles has officially secured its first distribution agreement, marking a significant development for the upcoming spinoff. The project, which was produced without a confirmed network or streaming partner, now has a platform in place ahead of its planned 2027 debut. However, the announcement also highlights a notable challenge that remains unresolved.
SWAT Exiles’ streaming deal comes with a massive catch
After months of uncertainty, S.W.A.T. Exiles has finally secured a platform. However, the series’ first distribution agreement comes with an unexpected twist. The spinoff has landed a Canadian broadcaster and streaming partner before finding a home in the United States.
According to Parade, the project has been picked up by Bell Media, which plans to bring the series to viewers through CTV and Crave in 2027. The announcement was included in the company’s recently unveiled 2026-27 programming slate, making Bell Media the first network group to officially commit to the series.
The deal represents a major step forward for the project. Unlike most television productions, S.W.A.T. Exiles was filmed without a network or streaming partner already attached. While securing Canadian distribution solves one challenge, there is still no confirmed outlet for audiences in the United States.
The original S.W.A.T. aired on CBS for eight seasons before the network decided not to move forward with the spinoff. While Bell Media has secured the series for Canadian audiences, S.W.A.T. Exiles still does not have a distributor in the United States. Sony Pictures Television is expected to continue shopping the project to potential buyers ahead of its planned 2027 premiere.
Created by Jason Ning, S.W.A.T. Exiles follows Hondo after a mission goes disastrously wrong. Forced back into action, he takes command of an experimental unit composed of young and unconventional recruits. Shemar Moore returns as Hondo, while the series introduces a new cast around him. Former S.W.A.T. stars Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit are also expected to appear as guest stars.
