Kaley Cuoco has weighed in on the future of Based on a True Story following Peacock’s decision to cancel the series. During an interview with ScreenRant, she spoke about her reaction to the cancellation and reflected on her experience making the series.

Cuoco, who also served as an executive producer, emphasized how much she valued the production and expressed appreciation for viewers who connected with it. “I loved that show so much. And when anyone tells me they loved it, it warms my heart because I don’t think it got the love it deserved. I thought it was so funny,” she said.

The actress also addressed speculation about a potential third season. She explained that no discussions are underway at present but that she remains open to returning. “I think it might be done. I mean, listen, if someone called me and was like, ‘We’d do a third,’ I would do it in two seconds. It was really one of the joys of my life,” she said.

Cuoco went on to reflect on the creative freedom they had while making the series. She said, “We were so free to be crazy, and I just don’t think it hit the way I thought it would. But I still think it was so funny and so special.” The actress also suggested the series may yet find a larger audience over time through streaming discovery.

She explained, “People find these weird little hits and go, ‘Oh my God, I never saw that.’ These shows never die. They get found at some point.”
