The irony isn’t lost on me that today is Friday, but seven days ago 14-year old Rebecca Black‘s video for her debut single, Friday, hit YouTube. It has since had over 16 million views. Mostly because people play it over and over so they can point at the screen and laugh. This makes her so sad 🙁 Us Magazine reports:

Orange County, Calif. eighth grader Rebecca Black bumped Charlie Sheen off the top Twitter trending topics list this week, thanks to something far more innocent than Sheen’s antics: “Friday,” a much-maligned, AutoTune-heavy pop song and YouTube video that has been viewed 13 million times. At just 13 years old, Black has been victim to some harsh musical critiques online. Even though “Friday” has gone past tracks by Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars on the iTunes Top 100 songs chart, Yahoo called it “the worst song ever” and website called it “disastrous.” “Those hurtful comments really shocked me,” Black told The Daily Beast in her very first interview since becoming a viral star. “At times, it feels like I’m being cyberbullied.

Oh, child. You poor, poor child. Besides this song (a song in which the writer and lead singer was struck with leukemia for releasing it), Friday is quite possibly the worst song ever recorded. Ever. That’s why people hate it and by extension, hate you. I’m not saying it’s right or even warranted, but welcome to Earth. It happens. In the future, if you or anybody singing behind you is wearing braces, just know that we all assume that you have no fucking idea what to do on a Friday. Wake up in a pile of vomit and somebody’s blood on you then get back to us.
