Vince Gilligan is Creating a ‘Breaking Bad’ Virtual Reality Experience

Did you think that Walter White was dead and buried? Well think again! Four years after the series finale, Breaking Bad will live again as a virtual reality experience on the Playstation 4. However, this won’t be a video game.

According to Variety, series creator Vince Gilligan is teaming up with Sony Interactive on a Breaking Bad VR title for the PS4. Further details about the title haven’t been revealed, but it’s entirely possible that more info is coming at E3 later this month. In the initial report, Sony Interactive’s Andrew House explained how Gilligan became involved with the project.

“We set up a day at our campus where we brought seven of the best show runners [Sony Pictures Television] work with, like David Shore of The Blacklist and Ron Moore, who did Battlestar Galactica, Vince and some other folks,” recalled House. “And they just played around with VR. Several of them were intrigued, but Vince was the one who said, ‘I really want to do something with this. I want to experiment with this.’”

The report also notes that this won’t be a live-action VR experience. Instead, Sony will recreate some of the iconic locations from the series using CGI. It’s also unclear whether any of the actors from the show will reprise their roles for this project. However, we’d be surprised if Bryan Cranston didn’t appear in some capacity. If he’s willing to reprise his role as Walter White for a Super Bowl ad then he should be up for this as well!
