8 Most Iconic DBZ Characters

Vegeta

Of course, we can’t talk about Dragon Ball Z without mentioning a character that has changed his inclinations almost completely during the course of the series. He was originally one of three aliens who came to Earth to do Frieza’s bidding and destroy the Z Fighters but eventually gave up on the idea, especially after Frieza destroyed his entire home planet fearing the Super Saiyans. Even when he joined forces with Goku, Vegeta still craved to be the best fighter there is and achieve his royal destiny. This complex character is certainly a fan favorite because of his relentless nature, and great fighting power that seems to rival Goku’s. One important element that influenced Vegeta’s change of heart is, no doubt, Bulma whose influence softened him up and made him stay on Earth to start a family with her.

While Goku has encountered numerous enemies over the years, one of the most dangerous and creepiest is certainly Frieza, the main antagonist is Dragon Ball Z. What makes Frieza so different from all other enemies that threaten to destroy Earth is his soft-spoken personality and high-class behavior. This is in contrast with his violent and sadistic tendencies that he displays quite frequently. Frieza rarely loses his composure and is only truly agitated in the series when he loses the chance to become truly immortal and continue to terrorize others freely. Although most people don’t like Frieza and can’t wait for Goku to smash him to pieces, the fact is that he is an exceptional character whose unique features make him a delight to hate.

Goku

Finally, we can’t talk about Dragon Ball franchise without mentioning its true protagonist, the one and only – Goku. Sent as an infant on Earth to destroy it, Goku actually suffered an injury early on which made him forget his mission and become a joyful, powerful fighter with a pure heart. Goku is a kind and helpful person, painfully unaware of his immense fighting potential. As the series progressed, he became more mature and proficient with his skills, but still retaining that kindness and naivety people love so much. As one of the main defenders of the Earth, he has faced numerous opponents and managed to defeat them all. As for his appearance, Goku became recognizable for his dark orange suit and rather simplistic DBZ shoes along with the spiky hairstyle. Although some claim that Vegeta is a much more developed character than Goku, we still feel that Goku has gone through so much and is really the ultimate Dragon Ball Z character.
